Abrigo Giovanni - Favorita

Taste the Story

In the glass, Favorita reveals a bright straw-yellow color with greenish reflections and a delicate, subtle sparkle. On the nose, primary aromas are lifted by a touch of natural carbon dioxide, offering notes of wildflowers, fresh herbs, green apple, and pear. With time, especially after six months, tertiary nuances emerge — a gentle hint of bread, derived from its time on the lees. On the palate, it is crisp, mineral, and well-balanced, with a light effervescence that enhances its refreshing drinkability.

Favorita, a rare expression of a native Piedmontese grape, finds a unique interpretation in the continental climate of the Langa hills. Here, attentive vineyard work yields wines that are lighter in alcohol and body, yet more fragrant and precise. Giorgio Abrigo recognized its potential early on, planting rows of Favorita in 1990. Through careful vineyard management, early harvesting, and reductive fermentations in pressurized tanks, he succeeded in capturing the grape’s pure, vibrant character.
