Abrigo Giovanni - Barbera d'Alba Marminela
Taste the Story
In the glass, this wine displays a vibrant ruby red with violet highlights in its youth, gradually evolving into garnet red with age. The bouquet is elegant and floral, opening with delicate rose petals that intertwine with wild cherries and fresh herbs. On the palate, it is fruit-forward and harmonious, with fine acidity, medium body, and a persistent finish.
The character of the wine is deeply rooted in its terroir. It is a blend of grapes from two vineyards in the municipalities of Diano d’Alba and Grinzane Cavour. In Diano, sandy soils mixed with grey sandstone bring finesse and aromatic brightness, while the deeper, more compact clay soils of Grinzane contribute structure and depth. Limestone runs through both sites, enriching the vines planted on slopes facing southwest in Diano at 330 meters and southeast in Grinzane at 230 meters. This interplay of soils, exposures, and altitudes yields a wine that reflects both elegance and strength.
